| Abstract | Este trabalho consistiu da utilização de dados do LANDSAT aplicados a problemas de ocupação da Amazônia. A área de estudo localiza-se no NE do Mato Grosso com coordenadas de 9º e 16º S e 50º e 54º W, aproximadamente. Os principais aspectos da área que foram estudados referem-se à vegetação, à drenagem, ao relevo, ao sistema rodoviário e ao desmatamento na tentativa de indicar áreas propícias a implantação de projetos agropecuários. O grau de desmatamento e qualidade das pastagens foram também avaliados. Os resultados alcançados mostram a grande eficiência da utilização de imagens LANDSAT para a Amazônia no que se refere a sua exploração. ABSTRACT: A study was carried out in the Amazon Region using LANDSAT images in order to explore its natural resources. An area northeast of Mato Grosso State having approximate latitudes of 09º00'S to 16º00'S and longitudes of 50º00'W to 54º00'W was selected for this study. Vegetation, drainage, topographic conditions, road system and deforestation were included aspects of this study. The objectives of this study were to find suitable areas for cattle, to map deforested areas and to determine quality of pasture in these areas. The results show that LANDSAT images can used very efficiently to map different kinds of natural vegetation, drainage network even under forest, topographic conditions and road network. Areas being deforested could be monitored and evaluated. The suitable areas for cattle grazzing could be indicated in accordance with each one of the mentioned aspects. Data collected through the LANDSAT image interpretation can be used to explore the region in a more rational way. It is als possible to verify the conditions of the area already occupied, using LANDSAT data. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
